For the Sake of Auld Lang Syne…

Yes, even I can produce an end-of-year blog post! Here’s a look back at 2018 and some thoughts about my plans for 2019. and of course I’d love to know what your plans are too.

  1. Hi Henry, I have never written here before, but you comments spoke very much to me. As a 60 year old wargamer I have read your articles for many years, and enjoyed your wargames book. I now live in Sweden, but come from Worthing, and have just returned from a visit to my parents – so you and I hail from the same part of the world. On a more personal note, I too have suffered from depression and related problems recently, so I feel for you (and also benefit from the Calm app). We met once at a show, but I was rather too much in awe of you to make much intelligent conversation! Just to say, hang on in there, and thanks for everything you have given to the hobby. Best wishes

    • Thank you for your kind comments Adrian. I’m fine at the moment, and hope you are too. And please overcome your awe (I’m flattered!) and say hello next time you see me!

  2. That is an interesting and thought provoking blog post Henry. I get so caught up in the minutiae of things that sometimes I forget to step back and, look at the big picture.

In the hobby business I plan to keep churning out new AWI and SYW figures for Fife &Drum and hope to finally get pictures of all the product codes on the website. I am also working on some ideas for publications so I might be able to throw some business your way if you have some open time.

I’m fortunate to be part of a great group of gaming friends in Bill Protz’s group and this gets me to more games each year. The Seven Years War Association convention remains the Wargaming highlight of each year for me. Keeping active in the hobby on the social side helps to keep that black dog away from me.

All in all I’m looking forward to 2019 and whittling down my long list of things to,so. I wish you a Happy New Year too, Henry.

    Cheers,

    Jim

  3. Hang in there Henry, not the only gamer with struggles. May 2019 be better for us all, not that 2018 was bad…but I do always have more questions for more podcasts!
