Many wargamers and collectors used to use Zinnfiguren, or ‘flats’ cast from tin alloy, but they have largely fallen out of fashion. But the idea has been revived by Peter Dennis with his ‘Paperboys’ and Wofun Games who now create beautifully illustrated little soldiers, equipment and buildings at much lower cost than their metal forebears. #wargaming

I started playing with flats in 1969. And I still use flats for the the SYW. They are much more varied than the 28 mm figures we can buy these days.
I would have liked to post a photo or two of my flats but this is not possible in this comment.
