Partizan 2026: My Show Report

A week ago, I was recovering from my journey to Partizan at the Newark Showground and what a show it was! It seemed to me that there were more games of all sizes and types, and more visitors through the doors!

I was so impressed by the standard of games on show – it’s clear that both clubs and individuals have made enormous efforts not only to stage fun and exiting games, but to really dial up the visual appeal. Moreover, I was particularly impressed at how many of the teams and individuals running the games made a real effort to engage with the public.

As part of the judging team alongside Guy and his colleagues at WSS magazine and Aly Morrison and Dave Andrews, I can tell you that having to decide between so many great participation and demo games was sheer agony. Quite honestly, I wish we could have created a handful of extra prize categories on the spot! But the winners, as you’ll see, were all standout games in their categories and deserved the accolades and all I can say to the many very close runners up is a huge “thank you” for your efforts.

Naturally, this video reflects my own interests to a certain extent, but I have done my best to include every game I saw – if I missed anyone, then culpa mea. The editing process has been long and hard, and I’ve spent several days on this, not only sifting through the hundreds of pics I took, but also getting to grips with Final Cut pro, which I intend to use going forwards. So again, if there are any technical glitches, the fault is mine alone.

Thank you to everyone who greeted me at the event and for the many kind comments I received about my recovery from arthritis and two hip replacements in the space of just a few months. Some folk were clearly amazed to see me walking at all! As far as I’m concerned, what better way to celebrate my new-found mobility than by walking (repeatedly!) round my favourite wargames show? I hope you enjoy the video.

Henry
