GW hills 1

GW hills 1

I was sent these GW hills as samples for review, so I’ve painted and flocked them. I used a black undercoat, then used artists’ acrylics in tubes for the painting. I used Raw Umber as an overall wash, then various combinations of Raw Umber and Raw Sienna to build up muddy tones in wettish dry brushes (yes, I know that’s a contradiction!), before finishing with a dry brush of a colour I had mixed at my local Homebase that’s close to GW Goblin Green. The I flocked patches using Woodland Scenics fine Burnt Grass, and some other bits around the rocks that’s a home-made combination of a dark soil colour sand mixed with a very pale straw flock, and then finally an overall static grass, again a home-made mix that’s primarily a grassy green. The last thing I did was give it all a quick spray of matt varnish.

The big hill comes in two halves: this is one of the combinations.
