Battlechat 95 with Andy Callan

Andy Callan’s name has been around in wargaming for a very long time indeed and many of you will be familiar with his articles, especially concise rulesets, that have appeared in the wargaming press.

In fact, it was in the very first issue of Duncan Macfarlane’s Wargames Illustrated that “Loose Files & American Scramble” appeared, a set of AWI rules that was reprinted twice in later issues and which has generated more interest than almost anything else Andy has written!

Andy has met and befriended many of the great and the good of the hobby over they years, including the late, great Paddy Griffith who he met whilst studying at Lancaster University. He also collaborates with near neighbour Peter Dennis, providing rulesets for his fabulous ‘paperboy’ flats featuring Peter’s extraordinary illustration skills that have proved so popular.

But most recently, Andy has been overwhelmed by the positive response to his ruleset Never Mind the Billhooks that first appeared as a special supplement in Wargames Illustrated, and which has now been ennobled by the appearance of a special ‘Deluxe’ edition, which includes additions and amendments for a wide range of medieval and renaissance conflicts.

So, settle down with your paintbrush or in a comfy chair to listen to one of the hobby’s most prolific contributors as he describes his passion for the hobby.

Henry
