Today I am delighted to be joined by fellow blogger, podcaster and now, yes, Patreon creative Sean Clark, known to his followers as God’s Own Scale – a somewhat ironic reference to his favourite 6mm sized miniatures, given that the phrase was first appropriated by fans of 28mm figures who often dismissed anything in smaller scales.
Sean entered the hobby back in the 1970s, via the familiar route of Airfix soldiers and models, and was influenced by the interesting trio of books you can see here – congratulations if you have them all on your own shelf!

As well as having an abiding love of military history, Sean has been lucky enough to walk many of the battlefields of several eras during trips to France and Belgium, including the Somme and Waterloo. It was the First World War in particular that made him realise the advantages of 6mm as a scale for gaming, permitting the deployment of large formations on a manageable tabletop, though he actually plays games et in many periods – and with miniatures of all scales and sizes.

Sean has been fighting the Battle of the Alma today, as seen on his Twitter account
As a serving police officer, Sean has some sage advice to offer us on steering clear of problems on social media, and is a great advocate of the mental health benefits of our hobby – and how to prevent online shenanigans getting us down.
Sean is a truly modest man, somewhat reluctant to blow his own trumpet, but as far as I’m concerned he has lots of interesting things to say, which he does with great sincerity , and I wish him well with his plunge into Patreon territory!
