Virtually an outside broadcast, this one, with Jay enjoying the Illinois sunshine in his garden, but it also led to some spectacular editing challenges when the broadband signal to Skype decided to cut out at random intervals!
Still, I hope that you’ll hardly notice the emergency edits as you listen to us transatlantic buddies shooting the breeze in very relaxed fashion. We discuss what we’ve been doing hobby-wise ourselves in recent weeks and also make observations about what we’ve seen happening online during lockdown, including some of the remarkable efforts by a number of gamers we admire.
Jay particularly focuses on his growing Renaissance imagi-nation gaming, influenced and inspired by the art of Holbein, Dürer and Breughel. As well as the Fistful of Lead rules for skirmish-level games, Jay is able to field Warhammer Fantasy Battle level armies and has recently discovered Splendor, a card game with extra potential for the campaign. As a lover of imagi-nations myself, we have plenty to discuss around this subject!
Jay also reveals the fact that he and his brother Chris have been dabbling more with 3D printing, the point where there is a possibility of them launching a commercial venture selling scatter terrain, buildings and other useful items – watch this space.
Sadly, we also touch on the fact that Jay’s father has been diagnosed with yet another form of cancer – I’m sure I echo the sentiments of all patrons in sending him the very best wishes for a full recovery. I also wrap up with a very brief update on my own condition.
Please note that this podcast contains occasional strong, adult language – given the context in which it is used, I make no apology.
Enjoy the show!
