What Goes Up…

…must come down, and tonight it was the kitchen ceiling.

You may recall that we had to abandon our holiday in Devon because of the flood in the Loftwaffe a couple of weeks ago.

We’d started to believe that the damage was confined to a handful of laminate flooring sections in the attic, hopeful that everything else would dry out.

But no, I returned from The Other Partizan to see that an ominous crack had appeared in the corner of the kitchen ceiling and about an hour ago, relaxing after a lovely dinner, Ann and I were startled by a loud crash.

And this is what we found.

Despite the devastation, we feel lucky. Five minutes earlier, I was standing near the sink, making a coffee.

So, my dear patrons, you will forgive me if I am not as attentive here as I would like to be over the next few days as we deal with insurance companies and builders and try to get this sorted out. I’ll post my report from the show as soon as I’m able.
