Many of my patrons have already seen that I created a video version of my battle report on the epic Bataille des Deux Fermes for patrons only, for which I stitched together a number of videos I made during the course of the campaign game, together with voiceover narration.
For this version, however, I have stitched together the many hundreds of photos I also took during the course of the battle, fought over several days, together with music and captions, topped and tailed with maps explaining the background to the battle and its aftermath.
You may be interested to know that it is considerably shorter than the video version, a mere 40 minutes as opposed to an hour and three quarters! However, as is often the case, this version is in many ways more dense and dramatic, and you don’t need to listen to me droning on in the background.
This has been a labour of love undertaken whilst recovering from hip surgery – I hope that you enjoy it and, above all, that it might encourage you to embark on your own campaigns, imaginary or not, and record the games played for posterity, both in written and cinematic/photographic form.
As for me, having put together two YouTube videos about the battle, I now have to complete my good, old-fashioned written (as in pen and ink) account of the battle in my campaign diary. I’ll get around to that as soon as I can, and as patrons, of course, you will be shown the results.
I hope you enjoy the video.
Henry
P.S. I’m making this exclusive to paying patrons for the first week before it goes public.
