One of the things I’m known for is my love of fictitious countries, known to most wargamers as imagi-nations. Anyone who has read my Wargaming Compendium, Wargaming Campaigns or Martinstaat 1744 can be in no doubt about my passion for these creative venues for wargaming.
I’m still as captivated by this ‘Ruritanian’ genre as when I first read The War Game by Charles Grant in 1971, and my own imaginary world, developed over more than 40 years now, continues to grow in breadth and depth.
The latest campaign, set in the northern zone of the continent of Europia, features the warring nations of Grenouisse and Borgenmark, who have been locked in a dramatic struggle that has lasted about a month in campaign time, but which in fact began by chance back in 2018!
Become a patron to get exclusive access to a host of background material about the campaign and watch it unfold in real time, as I post extracts from my campaign journal and notes, featuring hand-drawn maps, a growing cast of characters and evolving storyline. Even better, as a senior rank patron you will be offered the chance to participate in these campaigns in a variety of ways, from deciding strategy to actually taking part in the battles! Who knows, you might be able to give orders to the troops in action, or roleplay one of the commanders or political figures influencing events. It’s even possible you might end up across the table in the Loftwaffe, rolling dice with me and manoeuvring brigades of Spencer Smiths!
But best of all, you’ll be helping me to bring the imaginary world of Erdea to life, with epic struggles on a global scale, and who knows where that might lead!
Of course, my Patreon also features the well-known Battlechat podcasts, exclusive videos and a great deal more besides, including a growing community in the various chat rooms that are exclusive to paying patrons. We’d love to have you aboard!
