Ken’s Italian Wars Project won the Challengers’ Choice Award in the Analogue Hobbies Winter Paint Challenge XI.
Ken Reilly has a huge personality that really shines through in this interview, which ranges from how he became a wargamer in the first place, right through to his latest wargaming project (the Italian Risorgimento, specifically the forces of the Papal States and the Battle of Mentana in 1867).
A serving member of the emergency services, Ken sees his hobby as a hugely therapeutic escape from his day job and has amassed huge collections of miniatures covering most historical periods and is scale agnostic—though he loves his beautiful 28mm armies, he also games in 15mm and even, to many people’s enormous surprise, 6mm.
He recently won a Caesar Award from Little Wars TV for his own podcast, and you’ll soon understand why his infectious enthusiasm for the hobby has delighted so many listeners and YouTube viewers in recent times.
So, sit back and enjoy this affable Yorkshireman (though he’s really from Cheshire!) as he regales us with his wargaming tales.
