The photo above shows Annie in her natural surroundings, with a halo of vibrant, patterned rays emerging from her incredibly active brain!
I’m so delighted that at last, I managed to get Annie onto the show because she is one of the big personalities in the hobby, a charming ambassador for our hobby and frequently to be found strutting her stuff at wargames shows up and down the land, as well as expressing herself intelligently and cogently on Twitter and Facebook about both the hobby and the wider industry.
Annie has a reputation for being strident in her views and has championed the cause of women and minority groups in the hobby, a brave stance which has helped to bring issues to our attention about which, I think it would be fair to say, many of us had stuck our heads in the sand. Both we and she have learned a lot from this in recent years and I think we are much better informed as a result.
In the show, we do touch on some of these issues because I’m keen to air them in a non-confrontational way, and Annie does a brilliant job of navigating these difficult waters in a manner that is both engaging and informative. As well as discussing how she has dealt with discrimination, we also tackle the thorny issue of sprue recycling which recently triggered dozens of tweets over on Twitter.
But we also hear how Annie overcame all manner of challenges to end up running one of the most successful small businesses in the hobby, taking on the responsibilities of a thriving enterprise employing numerous freelancers and suppliers, but still managing to maintain her undeniable creative talents and wonderful sense of humour, channeling them in innovative ways. Clearly, she has a big future and has only just begun to explore the ways in which she can make a positive impact on the hobby.
So, sit back, relax and listen to a couple of hours of fun conversation as we travel along some of the less-often discussed highways and byways of our wonderful pastime.
Henry
