To all my American patrons, I wish you all the best on this day that marks your escape from the clutches of colonialism. And as for my British compatriots, well, today we are voting in a general election which may result, depending on your point of view, in our own opportunity to break from the past. Either way, to paraphrase what one well-known politician famously said, “I’m not a fan of soundbites, but today I feel the hand of history upon us.”
