Charles Singleton, who joined Helion & Co in 2013, is a man with impeccable credentials for being the powerhouse behind two of the most popular military history and wargaming book series in the business. He has been an academic historian and teacher, and worked for flagship organisations like the National Trust, English Heritage and The Arts Council.
A wargamer since his early youth, he developed a passion for the 17th century in particular, though as he reveals, his interests roam far wider than that, including the intricacies of German late-war uniforms in WW2 and the unsuitability of the running gear on Tigers and Panthers!
Charles has steered “The Century of the Soldier” and now “From Retinue to Regiment” to success, taking on the might of Osprey who have long dominated the ‘short work’ sector of the history market. He is now commissioning such well-known names as Christopher Duffy and René Chartrand to produce works that are bound to be considered amongst the most highly respected in the business.
So, relax and get to know this powerhouse of the hobby publishing world – just never mention pike ‘blocks’ around him!
